Shocking Parkdale Incident: Bicycle Cop Struck by Stolen Vehicle, Suspect Arrested
Newly released video footage captures a shocking incident in Parkdale, where a bicycle cop was struck by a stolen vehicle, leaving the officer injured. The incident took place around 2:20 p.m. on July 22, on Jameson Avenue near King Street West.
According to police reports, officers initially spotted the stolen vehicle stopped in the northbound lanes of the roadway. As the bicycle officers approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly accelerated towards them. The police released a 15-second video that starts midway through the incident, revealing the suspect’s vehicle attempting to flee by briefly entering the opposite lane of traffic and ultimately colliding with the officer on a bike. In a desperate move, the officer sought refuge on the hood of another vehicle, but the suspect’s vehicle proceeded into the intersection, causing the injured officer to fall to the ground.
Following the incident, the stolen vehicle was later found abandoned in the Landsdowne Avenue and Queen Street West area. Meanwhile, the injured officer received medical attention at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
A significant development in the case came with the arrest of a 17-year-old girl in connection with the incident. However, the alleged driver of the stolen vehicle remains at large. The 17-year-old suspect is now facing eight charges, including dangerous operation causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon. Due to legal regulations under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, her identity cannot be disclosed.
