On Monday night in west Brampton, a tragic shooting claimed the life of a man in his 60s, but authorities confirm that the incident was not random. Peel Regional Police Constable Sarah Patten addressed the media at the scene on Tuesday morning, revealing that the shooting occurred in front of a residence on Argelia Crescent, near Parity Road, and was a deliberate and “targeted incident.”
Constable Patten assured the public that there is “no immediate risk to public safety” following the incident. The police were alerted to the situation at 10:18 p.m. on Monday, responding to reports of gunshots outside a home in the area, located west of Chinguacousy Road and south of Williams Parkway.
Tragically, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The suspects responsible for the shooting fled the area in a vehicle, but specific descriptive details about the perpetrators or the getaway vehicle are not yet available.
As of now, a substantial police presence remains in the vicinity of the shooting as the investigation is taken over by Peel Regional Police’s homicide bureau. The authorities are tirelessly working to gather information and uncover the motives behind this senseless act of violence.
