Three Arrested, Including Two Teens, in Brazen Armed Robbery at Mississauga Jewellery Store

On September 8, 2024, at 4:45 pm, it is alleged that at least eight suspects entered a jewellery store near Mavis Road and Britannia Road in Mississauga.

Investigators from the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Bureau have charged three males in connection to a violent armed robbery at a Mississauga jewellery store. Investigators have also connected one of the males to a spree of armed robberies at currency exchange locations, a jewellery store and a pharmacy also within Peel Region.

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, at 4:45 pm, it is alleged that at least eight suspects entered a jewellery store near Mavis Road and Britannia Road in Mississauga. Several of the suspects were armed with firearms, forcing patrons and store owners to lie on the ground while the suspects stole a significant quantity of jewellery and money. The suspects fled the store in two separate stolen vehicles. There were no reports of any physical injuries to any of the patrons or owners.

Following a lengthy investigation, three suspects were identified and subsequently arrested.

On Saturday, October 26, 2024, Israel Brathwaite, a 23-year-old man from Markham, was arrested and charged with:

  • Robbery

On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, two male young persons were arrested and charged.

A 14-year-old male from Toronto, has been charged with:

  •  Robbery

  • Wearing a Disguise with Intent

 A 15-year-old male from Toronto, has been charged with:

  • Robbery (x5)

  • Wearing a Disguise with Intent (x4)

  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

At the time of his arrest, the 15-year-old youth was already on a form of release in relation to previous robbery charges.  Investigators believe that this youth is also responsible for four armed robberies and attempted robberies, at two currency exchange locations, a jewellery store, and a pharmacy, all occurring within Peel Region, beginning in August 2024.

As a result of this investigation, three stolen vehicles along with numerous offence-related property items were recovered.

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.

This investigation remains ongoing and police anticipate more charges could be laid.
