Two Indian-origin Men Arrested, Charged in 2022 Brampton Machete Attack
Two Indian-origin men have been charged with a total of 17 offenses including attempted murder in the machete attack in a Brampton home last year. Abhishek and Harmandeep Behleem appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton and were held for bail hearings.
On March 5, 2022, at around 6:20 a.m., multiple suspects reportedly broke into a house in the area of Mayfield Road and Marysfield Drive and assaulted the people inside. They broke windows and damaged the property as well. According to Peel police, one victim, at the time, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after being struck with a machete. Other victims were cleared by the paramedics at the scene.
The two suspects, 22-year-old men named Abhishek and Harmandeep Behleem from Brampton, were arrested on Tuesday. They have been charged with a combined 17 offenses including attempted murder, two counts each of assault, and breaking-and-entering. They appeared in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton where they were held for bail hearings.
