Two Suspects Linked to Robbery of Home with 13-year-old Boy Alone Inside Arrested

Two suspects linked to the recent North York robbery where a 13-year-old boy was home alone have been arrested. The incident took place on February 4 and was captured by the doorbell camera. No one was harmed in the robbery and the two made away with a laptop from the house.

Toronto police issued a news release that a man and woman have been charged in a home invasion investigation in the York Mills Road and Don Mills Road area. The two were arrested on February 7 in an unrelated matter but further investigation revealed they were involved in the home invasion robbery. They have been identified as Dominic McKay-Jones, 34 and Skye Robichaud-Miller, 23, both from Toronto. They will appear in court on Wednesday.

On February 4, the two suspects showed up at the door of a house in the York Mills Road and Don Mills Road area. They rang the bell several times after which a 13-year-old boy who was home alone at the time answered the door. The moment he opened the door, the two suspects barged in and one of them had a screwdriver in his hand. After ransacking the place, the two left from the back with a laptop.

The father of the 13-year-old was at work at the time and received a notification from his doorbell system on his phone. He saw in the video footage from the door that the two suspects rang the bell multiple times before barging in. “They helped themselves in with the intent of extracting something from my home. And sure enough, they had done that by barging in and terrifying my son. They’re pretty slick in their means,” the father told CP24.

The father also added that when his son saw the screwdriver in the hands of one of the suspects, he picked up a knife. He held the knife under his arms but the suspects laughed it off.
