University of Guelph-Humber Strongly Encourages Everyone to Wear Masks

Though the XBB is a dominant strain in the US, however, the world health Organisation has warned it to be the most transmissable variant detetcted so far. 

As the mid sem break comes to an end the colleges reopen for the students with continuining, as well as new courses. The Winter session of 2023 began from January 9, 2023 and like always, the colleges have been sending advisories to the new and existing students.

With the new year, has also come a new variant of coronovirus which has been nicknamed as the ‘Kraken’ COVID-19 Subvariant. Though the XBB is a dominant strain in the US, however, the world health Organisation has warned it to be the most transmissable variant detetcted so far.

University of Guelph and Humber said in a mail, “During thr einter months, and with the concern for the annual flu seasonas well as COVID-19 and other respiratory illness, it’s important that we take steps to keep the most vulnerable in our ocmmunities safe, including family, friends, students, colleagues and those working ont he frontlines.”

It further added, “Humber College and University of Guelph-Humebr strongly encourages everyone to remain up to date on relevant vaccinations and wear a mask while in public indoor setting, including on campus.”

Where the colleges are recommending students and the staff to wear masks, the experts are also concerned about the transmisability of the virus.
