Two Montreal-based businesses with potential ties to the Russian military were added to a United States sanctions list, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.

CPUNTO Inc. and Electronic Network Inc. were the firms added to the list of organizations subject to export controls by the U.S. Department of Commerce last month.

The aforementioned firms describe themselves online as suppliers of electronic components and have their corporate offices in the St-Laurent neighbourhood of Montreal, according to media reports.

Under the said sanctions, almost all products made in the US cannot be exported due to export restrictions, including intellectual property.

Canada is in close correspondence with US agencies to control the access of technology and weapons to Russia that might aid Kremlin in the ongoing war with Ukraine, according to the Canada Border Services Agency.
