US Sikh Gurdwaras, Panthic Jathebandis hold large convention in support of farmers’ protest in India
New York: A large convention of US Sikh Gurdwaras and Panthic Jathebandis was held today at Dashmesh Darbar Gurdwara, Cartaret, NJ on a call from Sikh Coordination Committee East Coast (SCCEC) and American Gurdwara Parbhandak Committee (AGPC) in support of Farmers Protest-2024 in India.
It was attended by top leadership US Sikhs, who all spoke in support of Farmer demands. The following statement and resolutions were unanimously adopted by the gathering:
“Farmers are the pride and life blood of the nation. ‘No Farmers-No Food’. Their sons and daughters protect your borders. Stop terrorizing them and must accept their following legitimate demands,” read the statement.
List of demands made during convention:
• Pass an Ordinance to legalize MSP to cover all input costs + 50% overhead premium for 23 crops.
• Dismiss the Union Minister whose son was accused of running his car over farmers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district in October 2021.
• Withdraw all false criminal cases against the farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri incident.
