Victoria Day in Brampton: Open Shops, Closed Services, and Transit Schedule for the Long Weekend
As spring blossoms in Brampton, the Victoria Day long weekend approaches, with the holiday falling on May 22 this year. While some places will be closed, there are still options for you to explore and enjoy during your break from the daily routine. Here’s a breakdown of what’s open and closed in Brampton for Victoria’s Day:
Closed: All major grocery stores, Brampton City Hall, banks, community centres, LCBO and Beer Store locations, Service Ontario, Canada Post, and most Region of Peel services, including Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives (PAMA), Access Peel Counters, Dental Services Contact Centre, Early Years and Child Care Services, Family Health Call Centre, Healthy Sexuality Clinics, COVID-19 vaccine clinics, Needle Exchange Program, Ontario Works, and garbage collection scheduled for Monday (will be picked up later in the week). The TransHelp office (book by 7:00 p.m. on Sunday to reserve travel on May 22 and May 23) is also closed.
Open: Bramalea City Centre (11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., individual store hours may vary), some restaurants and bars (open for takeout or delivery, call ahead to be sure), Brampton Recreation Centres (open according to modified hours), most Shoppers Drug Marts and Rexall, and some smaller grocery stores.
Transit: Brampton Transit will operate on a Sunday/Holiday schedule, with service counters closed. GO Transit will run on a Sunday schedule.
