Violent Daylight Robbery in Thornhill Caught on Camera, York Police Hunt for Suspects

Three suspects exited their vehicles, assaulted the victim and stole a black, carry-on style suitcase containing a quantity of cash from the victim’s vehicle.

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking at least three suspects and appealing for witnesses following a violent robbery in Thornhill.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at approximately 5:10 p.m., officers attended a commercial plaza in the area of Yonge Street and Meadowview Avenue for a report of a robbery. The victim was driving through the plaza when his vehicle was boxed in by a white Lexus sport utility vehicle (SUV) and a white, four-door Mercedes-Benz.

Three suspects exited their vehicles, assaulted the victim and stole a black, carry-on style suitcase containing a quantity of cash from the victim’s vehicle. The victim sustained minor injuries.

Suspect Vehicle 1:

  • White, Lexus SUV

  • Ontario licence plate DCDL 270

  • Reported stolen out of Toronto earlier in the day on October 8, 2024

Suspect Vehicle 2:

  • White, Mercedes-Benz four-door sedan

  • Ontario licence plate CKDY 286

  • Licence plate is not registered to the Mercedes-Benz

The three suspects are described as males and wearing dark clothing. They spoke with a Middle Eastern accent. The descriptions of the drivers of the Lexus SUV and Mercedes-Benz are unknown.

This was a targeted incident and the investigation is ongoing.
