At 10:30 p.m. on August 17, 2023, the York Regional Police received an emergency call (9-1-1) from a female individual who reported a distressing encounter with a knife-wielding man. The adult woman, accompanied by another female companion, was travelling through the vicinity of Highway 7 West and Martin Grove Road when an unfamiliar male approached on foot.
