“Wasn’t Invited For World Cup 2023 Final,” Claims Kapil Dev

Former India captain Kapil Dev asserted that he did not receive an invitation to attend the World Cup final between India and Australia.

On Sunday, former India captain Kapil Dev asserted that he did not receive an invitation to attend the World Cup final between India and Australia. Kapil, who led India to their inaugural ODI World Cup victory in 1983, expressed his desire to be present at the match alongside his former teammates.

“I wasn’t invited there. They didn’t call me so I did not go. As simple as that. I wanted the whole ’83 team to be there with me but I guess due to the fact that it’s such a big event and people are so busy handling responsibilities, sometimes they forget,” Kapil told ABP News.

While Sourav Ganguly, another former India captain, attended the final at Narendra Modi Stadium as a guest due to his past role as BCCI president, it is customary for the BCCI to extend invitations to former presidents and officials.

The star-studded audience at the high-profile match also included actors Shahrukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Ranveer Singh, along with badminton legend Prakash Padukone, who were spotted in the stands.
