Went From Canada to Get Married in India, Got Killed by Boyfriend
An Indian man has confessed to murdering his girlfriend who worked in Canada and came back to India to get married. The victim, 23-year-old Neelam was from Baland village in Rohtak and had moved to Canada but returned in January of last year after which she was reportedly kidnapped by her boyfriend.
According to the report, a man named Sunil murdered his girlfriend Neelam by shooting her in the head twice and then buried her body in his field in Haryana’s Gumad Village. The incident took place in June last year and according to the complaint filed by Neelam’s sister Roshini with Gannaur Police in June last year, Neelam had moved to Canada to work but returned in January last year because her boyfriend Sunil lured her back to marry her. He then kidnapped Neelam and murdered her in June of last year.
Neelam’s family could not locate her after her expected return from Canada and then found that they could not locate Sunil either. At the time, the police registered a kidnapping case but no action was taken. The family tried to search for her on their own but then met with Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij to push for action, after which the case was handed over to the CIA in Bhiwani and Sunil was eventually arrested.
According to the police, Sunil already had over half a dozen cases related to murder and possession of illegal pistols registered against him.
He confessed to kidnapping and killing Neelam. Neelam’s body was found by Bhiwani CIA on Tuesday buried 10 feet deep in Sunil’s field on Garhi Road. The remains have been sent to Sonipat Civil Hospital for post-mortem. A DNA test with her mother will also be conducted.
