Residents of Southern Ontario should brace for another significant snowfall this weekend as Environment Canada warns of an incoming winter storm expected to bring up to 25 centimetres of snow across the region.

After a midweek storm dumped over 20 centimetres of snow across Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), another system is set to bring heavy snowfall starting Saturday morning. According to Environment Canada, snow will persist throughout the weekend, tapering off by early Monday morning.

Friday will bring a temporary break from the snow, with a mix of sun and clouds in the morning. However, strong winds between 20 and 40 km/h will make it feel much colder, with a daytime high of -4°C. Wind chill values will make it feel as cold as -14°C in the morning and -7°C in the afternoon. By nightfall, there is a 40% chance of snow, with temperatures dropping to -7°C.

On Saturday, the storm is expected to begin early in the morning, bringing steady snowfall throughout the day with a high of 0°C. Snow will continue overnight, with temperatures falling to -2°C.

Sunday will see even colder conditions, with snow persisting into the afternoon. A high of -2°C is expected, but wind and cloud cover could make conditions feel much chillier. Overnight, temperatures will drop to -11°C, with lingering snow showers and a 40% chance of flurries.

With back-to-back snowfalls this week, road conditions are expected to remain treacherous. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution when traveling and to prepare for delays. Snowplows and salt trucks will be deployed across the city, but accumulation may still make driving hazardous.

Stay tuned for weather updates and advisories from Environment Canada as the storm progresses.
