B.C.:17-year-old Indian-origin student dies after losing car’s control

A 17-year-old Indian-origin high school student died earlier this month after losing control of his tesla car due to bad weather, according to media reports.

The deceased, identified as Taren Singh Lal, reportedly met with an accident that took his life after he lost control of his car due to bad weather and consequently crashed into a utility pole near the intersection of Fraser Highway and 228th Street in Langley.

The Langley Royal Canadian Mounted Police were called to the accident site near Fraser Highway and 228th Street. A fence was reportedly flattened and a tree toppled due to the force of the crash, according to media reports. Lal reportedly died on the spot due to the crash.

“Investigators continue to look into all causal factors. These are complex investigations and it is still very early in the investigation,” stated the Langley RCMP to media outlets.

Lal was coming back home at the time of the accident, his mother reportedly told media outlets. She had talked to him shortly before the crash, she added.

Media reports suggest that it was raining heavily at the time of the crash. The exact details of the accident are still said to be uncertain.

Taren Singh Lal was a student at the Tamanawis Secondary School in Surrey and was very involved in the community through sports activities, according to media outlets.

A GoFundMe page has since been set up for Lal, with the page describing the 17-year-old as, “a loving son, protective older brother, unforgettable friend, and a beloved role model to those around him.”
