The Sromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has banned the use of perfume in Darbar Sahib. According to media reports, SGPC has banned sprinkling of perfume in the presence of Guru Granth Sahib. The ban has been imposed because, as claimed by the SGPC, perfumes contain a combination of harmful chemicals and alcohol and the use of alcohol is a violation of Sikh morality.
SGPC Secretary Pratap Singh has issued a circular to the managers of all Gurdwaras in this regard, completely banning it and instructing the managers not to use any alternative.
