AAP is the only party as far as Jalandhar West is concerned because no competitor is left there from opposition parties. Local councilors and leaders, too, are leaving their parties and are extending their support to AAP MLA Sheetal Angural. BJP’s Jalandhar West in-charge of Mohinder Bhagat is the son of Bhagat Chuni Lal who was a minister in the SAD-BJP government. Mohinder Bhagat has contested twice from Jalandhar West on BJP’s ticket.
He was chairman of the medium industries development board Punjab from 2007 to 2011. He was also BJP’s Punjab vice president from 1998-2001 and from 2017-2020.With Mohinder Bhagat joining the Aam Aadmi Party, the party has gained more strength in Jalandhar.  Two opposition party candidates in Punjab assembly elections have now joined AAP. This indicates the party’s one-sided win in the Jalandhar by-poll.
