A 22-year-old Canadian truck driver from Caledon, Ontario, has been arrested in Michigan after U.S. authorities discovered over 123 pounds of cocaine, valued at approximately $1.5 million, hidden in his vehicle. The incident marks another addition to the growing list of Canadian truckers accused of cross-border drug trafficking.

According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement received a tip about a potential cocaine shipment headed to Canada. Acting on the information, deputies, with support from Michigan State Police, conducted a traffic stop on a Freightliner tractor-trailer late Monday night on Interstate 94 near mile marker 34 in western Michigan. A thorough search of the truck uncovered the concealed drugs.

The driver, identified as Sukhraj Singh, was taken into custody and remains at the Berrien County Jail pending charges.

This case is the latest in a series of major drug busts involving truckers transporting narcotics between the U.S. and Canada. In October, police intercepted a truck in Port Huron, Michigan, carrying over 370 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $16.5 million. The driver, Sukjindr Singh, 29, of Peel Region, Ontario, was charged with delivering a controlled substance exceeding 1,000 grams.

In September, Indiana State Police arrested Naseeb Chisty, 49, of Etobicoke, Ontario, after discovering nearly 300 pounds of cocaine in his semi-truck during a traffic stop on I-94 near Chesterton.

The trend of drug seizures involving Canadian truckers stretches back several years. In February, Canadian driver Gagandeep Singh was caught at the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit with 661 pounds of cocaine valued at $8.7 million. Similarly, in May, another Canadian trucker, Jasbir Singh, 40, of Paris, Ontario, was arrested at the same border crossing with 132 pounds of cocaine.
