A 22-year-old Canadian truck driver from Caledon, Ontario, has been arrested in Michigan after U.S. authorities discovered over 123 pounds of cocaine, valued at approximately $1.5 million, hidden in his vehicle. The incident marks another addition to the growing list of Canadian truckers accused of cross-border drug trafficking.
According to the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement received a tip about a potential cocaine shipment headed to Canada. Acting on the information, deputies, with support from Michigan State Police, conducted a traffic stop on a Freightliner tractor-trailer late Monday night on Interstate 94 near mile marker 34 in western Michigan. A thorough search of the truck uncovered the concealed drugs.
The driver, identified as Sukhraj Singh, was taken into custody and remains at the Berrien County Jail pending charges.
