Canadian Man Detained in Mexico for Allegedly Murdering Girlfriend from B.C.

A Canadian man has been detained in Mexico for allegedly murdering his 23-year-old girlfriend from British Columbia. The identity of the suspect has not been revealed yet but prosecutors have shared that he is also Canadian. As of now, it is unclear if the man has been charged.

Kiara Agnew from Dawson Creek, B.C. was on a vacation with her boyfriend in a resort in Cancun, Mexico. Her body was found lifeless with marks of violence in a hotel room according to the Solidaridad. A man was arrested and prosecutors in Quintana Roo confirmed the suspect is also a Canadian.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Agnew to help her family in bringing her body back home and for the funeral processions. Kiara’s mother Michele Levesque shared that her daughter’s body will be returning home to B.C.. At the time of writing, the GoFundMe page has just over $21,000 of its goal of $30,000.
