The community came together in grief and solidarity to remember Gurvinder Nath, a 24-year-old who tragically lost his life last week after a vicious altercation while on duty. The candlelight vigil, organized by his friends and acquaintances, took place at the parking lot of Paramount Fine Food Center, drawing significant attendance, including local councillors and prominent community members.

Gurvinder Nath, a dedicated young man who was working hard to make ends meet, was delivering pizza at 2:10 am when he was brutally attacked, sustaining fatal injuries that he ultimately succumbed to. His untimely death has left his family, thousands of miles away in India, shattered and grief-stricken.

In response to this heart-wrenching incident, the community rallied together, demonstrating their compassion and support for Gurvinder’s family. They managed to raise an impressive $100,000 to help ease the financial burden on his grieving family back in India.

Among the attendees at the candlelight vigil were local councillors Gurpartap Toor and Deputy Mayor Harkirat Singh, along with MPP Nina Tangri. Their presence underscored the gravity of the situation and served as a show of solidarity with the grieving community.

The vigil also garnered the support of prominent figures such as Inderjit Bal, President of Brampton Crematorium and Satnam Singh, the President of the Canadian Truckers Welfare Association. Both expressed heartfelt condolences to Gurvinder’s family and friends, highlighting the pressing need for improved safety and security measures to protect workers, especially those in vulnerable occupations.

According to the gathered information, Gurvinder Nath’s body will be sent back to India on Thursday next week. A visitation has been scheduled at the Brampton Crematorium on Wednesday, between 5 pm and 7 pm, to provide an opportunity for friends, family, and community members to bid a final farewell to the young man whose life was cut tragically short.

The incident has also sparked discussions in the community about the safety and security of workers, particularly those who work late-night shifts or in potentially dangerous circumstances. Many are calling for enhanced measures and improved training for employees to ensure their well-being while on the job.
