Couple from Jalandhar Shot Dead In Their Home in Philippines

A couple from Jalandhar’s Goraya was shot dead in the Philippines on March 25 in their Manilla home. The husband identified as Sukhwinder Singh (41) was settled in the Philippines and ran a financial transaction business with his brother Lakhbir Singh.

According to Lakhbir Singh, CCTV footage showed that an assailant entered Sukhwinder Singh’s house in Manilla, Philippines, and was having a conversation with him. He then shoots at Sukhwinder thrice and he dies on the spot. His wife, Kirandeep Kaur (33), rushed to her husband after hearing the gunshots and was also shot dead by the assailant.

Sukhwinder had been running his finance business in the Philippines for 19 years with his brother Lakhbir. His wife came to the country about five months ago. The reason for the shooting as well as the identity of the assailant is currently unknown. Lakhbir added that his brother did not have any enmity with anyone.

The family of the victim has urged the Indian government to swiftly take the matter up with the Philippines and asked the Punjab government to make people aware of this kind of occurrence in the Philippines.

Sukhwinder was from Jalandhar’s Goraya and got married to Kirandeep three years ago.
