After thousands of supporters of ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh protested and laid siege at the Ajnala Police station some 25 km from Amritsar on Thursday, an Ajnala court on Friday ordered the release of Amritpal Singh’s aide Lovepreet Singh, who had been detained by the same police station in a kidnapping and assault case.
A day after the protestors demanded the release, a court in Ajnala accepted the discharge application of the Waris Punjab De’ chief’s aide, Inspector General of Police, Amritsar, Border Range, Monish Chawla stated to media outlets.
Amritsar Rural’s Superintendent of Police, Satinder Singh, stated to media outlets that due evidence had been presented by the supporters of ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh which proved that Lovepreet Singh was not at the spot when the incident occurred.
“They gave the evidence on Thursday. On the basis of that he is being discharged through the court,” Satinder Singh, Amritsar Rural’s Superintendent of Police, stated.
