As Ontario’s provincial election looms, Progressive Conservative Leader Doug Ford is aiming for a historic third consecutive majority government, boldly declaring his ambition to remain premier “forever.” With voting set for Thursday, Ford, along with his main rivals NDP Leader Marit Stiles and Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie, is making a final push to sway voters across the province.

Campaigning in Windsor, where his re-election journey began, Ford exuded confidence. “I just want to win,” he said. “I want to win a majority, a large majority.” He emphasized his party’s strength on the international stage, asserting that a strong Progressive Conservative victory would “send a message down to Donald Trump that we’re a force to be reckoned with.”

Ford’s last stop of the day will be in Mississauga East-Cooksville, a strategic move as Crombie hopes to secure this seat for a spot in the legislature.

NDP Leader Marit Stiles focused her final appeal on providing a genuine alternative to both the Progressive Conservatives and Liberals. Speaking in Toronto-St. Paul’s riding, she stressed, “We are the only party that would provide real change.”

Stiles criticized the Liberals as being no different from the Conservatives, pledging measures to make life more affordable for Ontarians. She also engaged with nurses in Niagara Falls and workers in Hamilton, with much of her campaign centered on maintaining current NDP ridings and flipping Conservative seats.

“We are actually going into a lot of ridings that we want to hold for sure,” Stiles said. “We know we can do it, but we’ll be connecting as we have been for the last few days in ridings where we want to flip from blue to orange.”

Liberal Leader Bonnie Crombie spent her day visiting businesses and local campaigns in Mississauga, Oakville, and Hamilton. With her eye on the Mississauga East-Cooksville riding, Crombie is not only striving to boost her party’s presence but also to secure a seat in the legislature.

As Ontario’s political landscape braces for the final verdict, the main party leaders are leaving no stone unturned. Voters will ultimately decide whether Ford’s quest for an enduring premiership, Stiles’ promise of affordability and change, or Crombie’s push for Liberal resurgence will resonate the most.
