Four Sikh Indian Men Stuck in Libya Return Home After Two Months

Four Sikh Indian men who were stuck in Libya for the past two months have made it back home to India. One of the men rescued shared that he was working for a private contractor who would work with people like him without paying them any money and beat them brutally if they protested.

The four men have been identified as Lakhwinder Singh of Lang Majari village near Anandpur Sahib, Joginder Singh of Fatehgarh Karotana village of Moga district, Sanoj Kumar of Bihar have returned from Libya, and Gurpreet Singh of Nurpur Rajputan village of Kapurthala district. They were stuck in Libya for two months where they were being exploited by a private contractor.

Lakhwinder Singh explained that an agent got him a tourist visa for Dubai and assured him about a job there. When he went to Dubai, the agent sent him to Libya where he had to work for a private contractor. The contractor was not paying them any money for their work and giving them food irregularly. The contractor would also beat them brutally if they protested.

Ropar district BJP president Ajayvir Singh Lalpura was informed about the four men stuck in Libya so he contacted the Chairman of the National Commission for Minorities Iqbal Singh Lalpura, the Ministry of External Affairs, and other officials of the Government of India to facilitate their return. Furthermore, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Minister of State for External Affairs Meenakshi Lekhi, and a senior official of the MEA, Paramjit Singh, posted in Libya, also helped in bringing the four men back.

The air tickets were arranged by Ropar district BJP president Ajayvir Singh Lalpura who is also the head of the ‘Pehlan Insaniyat’ organization.
