Gunpoint Carjacking in Brampton: Police Arrest Multiple Suspects

Investigators from the Central Robbery Bureau have arrested seven individuals following an armed carjacking in Brampton.

On Thursday Feb. 6, 2025, at approximately 12:35 a.m., the victim was returning to his vehicle, a high-end luxury sedan, that was parked in the area of Queen Street East and Highway 50 in Brampton. Multiple suspects approached the victim demanding his keys at gunpoint. The victim complied and was not physically injured.  The suspects fled in his vehicle.

Investigators were able to track the stolen vehicle into Toronto, where it was being loaded into a transport truck. The suspects proceeded into York Region where, after a lengthy foot pursuit and with the assistance of York Regional Police, were arrested and charged:

Pherel Esprit, a 20-year-old man from Brampton

Amine Benhadjoudja, a 23-year-old man from Woodbridge

  • Robbery

  • Disguise with Intent

  • Use Imitation Firearm while Committing an Offense

  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance

Malike Jones, a 20-year-old man from Brampton

  • Robbery

  • Disguise with Intent

  • Use Imitation Firearm while Committing an Offence

  • Obstruct Police Officer

A general provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (Y.C.J.A.) prohibits the release of the name of a Young Person, and, therefore, the identity of the Young Persons charged in this investigation is protected.

Officers were able to recover the stolen vehicle, along with another stolen vehicle, a replica firearm and a large amount of currency.

All were held for a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

Additionally, a seventh suspect, the operator of the transport truck, was arrested and charged:

Prabjot Singh, a 33-year-old man from Brampton

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (x2)

 He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton at a later date.
