Health Canada recalls Pacifier and baby bottle toys over choking hazard as US reports child’s death

According to a consumer product alert released by Health Canada, a pacifier and infant bottle toy accessories manufactured by Epoch Everlasting Play LLC are being recalled because products present a choking hazard.

Pacifiers sold in the colours yellow, orange, pink, dark pink, blue, and teal were among the accessories sold with Calico Critters Flocked Animal Figurines that are part of the toy recall.

“This recall involves pacifier and bottle accessories sold with Calico Critters Flocked Animal Figures. The pacifier and bottle accessories measure approximately .42” long and .75” long, respectively. The pacifier accessories were sold in yellow, orange, pink, dark pink, blue and teal colors. The bottle accessories were sold in yellow, pink, blue and orange colors. One style of the bottle has two yellow handles,” the consumer product notice read.

The aforementioned products, which were sold between 2000 and 2021, were sold in Canada in an estimated 248,069 units.

The company has not yet reported any problems in Canada as of March 3, however, there have been two reports of incidents in the United States, including the demise of a child supposedly due to choking, according to media reports
