International Tug of War Competition Returns to Niagara Border After Three-Year Hiatus

The International Law Enforcement Tug of War is set to make a triumphant return to the Niagara border after a three-year hiatus, and the stakes are high. This unique competition involves the Niagara Police men’s and women’s tug of war teams battling it out against their American counterparts from Niagara Falls, New York.

Now in its 55th year, this event is sure to be an exciting spectacle that draws in crowds from both sides of the border. The tug of war will take place in the middle of the Rainbow Bridge, which connects Canada and the United States.

The Niagara Police teams, led by the Chief’s Honour Guard and the award-winning Niagara Regional Police Pipe Band, will march down Clifton Hill in Niagara Falls at 1:45 pm. The event is scheduled to begin at 2 pm sharp when the Niagara Police and American teams face off on the international bridge to determine which side truly brings the muscle to their law enforcement.

Members of the public are welcome to watch the thrilling competition and cheer on the Niagara Police teams from the Rainbow Bridge. However, it’s essential to note that while on the bridge, spectators will need to have their passports or NEXUS cards with them.

In an entertaining 1959 clip from a popular game show called “I’ve Got A Secret,” the mayors from each Niagara Falls attempted to stump the panel by guessing the event. The Tug of War competition is sure to be an exciting event that showcases the strength and camaraderie of law enforcement personnel from both sides of the border.
