Investment Firm Reports Data Breach Exposing Clients’ Personal Information

Mackenzie Investments, one of the leading investment firms in Canada, has recently confirmed a data breach that has compromised clients’ personal information. The incident occurred due to a cyber attack that impacted a third-party vendor, InvestorCOM Inc., which was related to the data transfer supplier GoAnywhere.

According to a letter sent by InvestorCOM to a client, the breach occurred on March 28, and included clients’ names, social insurance numbers, and addresses. The company stated that no financial information or client holdings were impacted.

However, Mackenzie has launched a full forensic investigation to determine the extent of the breach and whether any other clients have been affected. The company has reported the incident to the federal privacy commissioner and has also offered credit monitoring alerts, identity theft protection services, fraud victim assistance, and identity theft insurance to affected customers.

Mackenzie has emphasized its commitment to protecting clients’ personal information and apologizes for any inconvenience caused by the incident.
