Apple has confirmed its latest iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max models will incorporate India’s homegrown navigation technology, NavIC (Navigation with Indian Constellation), marking the first time Apple has integrated NavIC support into its iPhones. However, the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus variants will not feature NavIC support, as per the official tech specifications. The specific functionalities enabled by this integration remain undisclosed as of now, as reported by Tech Crunch.

NavIC, developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has been operational in India since 2018. This navigation satellite system offers precise positioning and timing information across India and its surrounding regions. NavIC comprises a constellation of seven satellites and an extensive network of ground stations.

The applications of NavIC encompass a wide array of fields, including terrestrial, aerial, and marine transportation, location-based services, personal mobility, resource monitoring, surveying, geodesy, scientific research, time synchronization, and safety-of-life alert dissemination, as outlined by ISRO.
