Man Passed Away After Falling At The Hazel McCallion Central Library In Mississauga

A man has died following a fall at Hazel McCallion Central Library in Mississauga, according to police.

Hazel McCallion Central Library in Mississauga was closed Thursday after a man’s death.

A traumatic incident took place on Thursday where a man in his 40s or 50s died on spot after falling at the Hazel McCallion Central Library In Mississauga. The police officers arrived at the scene around 9:49 am.

The officers were called immediately at the library located at Burnhamthorpe Road West and Living Arts Drive area near Square One Shopping Centre. He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

On X, the City of Mississauga said Hazel McCallion Central library is “closed until further notice” and all programs at the library Thursday have been canceled. The Mississauga library was opened this morning but all the programs have been due for Monday.

“Some staff have naturally been impacted by this traumatic event,” said Rona O’ Banion, Mississauga’s library director, in a statement to the Mississauga News.

“Library management and the City of Mississauga team are supporting staff and providing counseling to ensure all have the resources they need and are well cared for.”

Police were expected to be at the library for several hours but said officers had cleared the scene shortly before 3:30 p.m. The Police also mentioned that the circumstance of the death has not yet been discovered.
