Bhaker Become First Woman From India To Win Two Medals in a Single Edition
In a historic achievement on Day 4 of the Paris 2024 Olympics, Punjab-Haryana combined team gave India its second medal. Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh clinched the bronze medal in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. This victory marks a significant milestone, as Manu Bhaker becomes the first athlete from independent India to win two medals in a single Olympic edition.
The duo showcased their exceptional teamwork and mutual respect throughout the competition. Manu acknowledged Sarabjot’s crucial role in their success, stating that he took the winning shot, which was pivotal in securing the medal. Reflecting on their partnership, Sarabjot praised Manu’s supportive nature, noting, “I haven’t noticed it much, but it feels good to have Manu with me, giving me confidence.”
Their combined efforts culminated in a 16-10 victory over the Republic of Korea, following a tense 13-shot final round at the Chateauroux Shooting Centre. This accomplishment also marks India’s first-ever Olympic medal in a team shooting event, further solidifying the duo’s place in the country’s sporting history.
