As negotiations persist between Metro grocery store and approximately 3,700 employees, workers in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) are making preparations for a potential strike, which could commence as early as tonight.
With 27 Metro stores in the GTA at the forefront of the impending labor dispute, employees are facing a strike deadline set for 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday.
Represented by Unifor, the national union standing for Metro workers, a unanimous strike vote was taken prior to the commencement of bargaining, signaling complete support for job action if a satisfactory deal cannot be reached.
