Mobile business drivers and operators can now apply for and renew their licence and vehicle plates online.

Mobile business drivers and operators can now apply for and renew their licence and vehicle plates online.

The City of Brampton issues or renews licences for approximately 1,500 driver/operator licences each year and issues or renews vehicle plates for approximately 1,200 vehicles each year.

The following mobile businesses currently require a licence and vehicle plate in order to operate within the City of Brampton:

  • limousine

  • tow trucks

  • driving school vehicles

  • taxi

  • refreshment vehicles

The Licensing Enforcement team ensures that vehicles and drivers meet the qualifications under the City’s Mobile Licensing By-Law before a licence is issued. These include motor vehicle safety inspections, criminal/MTO checks and insurance.

Mobile driver/operator licenses and vehicle plates are issued by to ensure compliance with the Mobile Licensing By-law 67-2014.

Requests for licences and vehicle plates and renewals will now only be accepted through the online application process. Kiosks are available at Flower City Community Campus (8850 McLaughlin Road South, Unit 2, Brampton ON L6Y 5T1) for residents who do not have access to a computer.
