A 61-year-old Ontario man is accused of being captured driving with a mountain of open beer cans stacked on his passenger seat and is now facing more than a dozen charges.
A 61-year-old Ontario man is accused of being captured driving with a mountain of open beer cans stacked on his passenger seat and is now facing more than a dozen charges.
On Friday shortly after 5:20 p.m., the accused was apprehended, according to the Ontario Provincial Police, as he entered a RIDE check point on Grey Road 17 in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.
“We occasionally receive the question, ‘Why do you do RIDE programmes throughout the day?’ This is why,” said a Monday tweet from the OPP West Region.
In a press release, the police department said that they had “detected indicators of impairment” and seen “open liquor readily available” in the automobile.

The driver was detained after the discovery and brought to an OPP station for additional testing.
The driver was then charged with eight driving-related suspensions, including operating while intoxicated, violating four traffic laws, violating four driving laws, possessing property obtained through criminal activity valued at less than $5,000, using an unauthorised licence plate, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, and driving without insurance.
Mark Sewell, who is 61 years old, has been let go and will make an appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later time.
