Nearly 70 Robberies Investigated by Peel Police in January

Peel Regional Police investigated nearly 70 robberies in Mississauga and Brampton in January.

From January 11 to February 11, there were 38 robberies in Mississauga and 27 in Brampton, for a total of 65 in both cities.

According to police data, a firearm was used in 21 of the total robberies in January.

In terms of police investigations into these robberies, 24 are considered solved, 39 are ongoing, and 20 are listed as “unsolved.”

Last month (Jan. 2023), three men armed with a gun robbed a pharmacy in Mississauga, and four suspects, including two 17-year-olds, were later arrested and charged.

Although robberies continue to occur on a daily basis in Mississauga and Brampton, the numbers have decreased since the end of 2022.

There were 73 reported robberies between December 11, 2022, and January 11, 2023. Only 31 of those cases were resolved, 39 are still being investigated, and three remain unsolved.

There were 20 firearm-related weapons used in these robberies, one less than in January and February.
