Officials Warn Flooding as a Potential Threat to Mississauga Residents
In locations with poor drainage, localised flooding could happen.
Officials in Mississauga are advising citizens to avoid water areas and other potentially hazardous places over the course of the next day or so because heavy rain can cause flooding in some parts of the city.
In a social media post this morning, the City of Mississauga warned that floods and hazardous conditions might result from heavy rain and melting ice and snow (Feb. 9).
In locations with poor drainage, localised flooding could happen.
For Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, and Oakville, Environment Canada has issued a warning for significant rainfall and severe winds.
Today is the start of the muddy mix, and there will be periods of really heavy rain.

15 to 25 mm of total precipitation and winds out of the southwest with gusts of 70 to 90 km/h are predicted.
Tree branches may break or be flung around by strong winds. Utility outages may occur in isolated areas. The alert also mentions the possibility of freezing rain. It’s anticipated that the bad weather will end overnight tonight or early on Friday.
