One dead after fatal crash in Caledon

One person died after a car and a tractor trailer collided early Tuesday morning in Caledon, Ontario.

The crash took place shortly after 5 a.m. in the area of Charleston Sideroad and St. Andrews Road, and the victim, identified as an adult female, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, the Ontario Provincial Police said in a tweet.

Charleston between Mountainview Rd and Horseshoe Hill Rd is currently closed. Access to Charleston from St Andrews is also blocked. Please avoid the area.

The victim was then pronounced dead at the hospital from her injuries, a later tweet by the OPP said.

The immediate area of Charleston Sideroad, between Mountainview Road and Horseshoe Hill Road, was closed for the investigation.
