One Man Injured in Shooting Outside Ludhiana Court Before Giving Statement

Two people were shot at outside a Ludhiana court before they could go in and give their statement for a 2020 case. One of them was injured in the shooting and the two suspects have reportedly been arrested. As per reports, the assailants were on the side of the opposition and did not want the two men to give their statement in court.

Gurcharan Singh was to appear in a Ludhiana court for a case from 2020 and he arrived at the court complex with his friend Himanshu Malhotra. As they were entering the complex from the backside parking area, some assailants opened fire at them, and three shots were fired. While Gurcharan escaped unharmed, Himanshu suffered a bullet injury on his hand.

According to officials, this was an attempt to stop Gurcharan from giving his statement in court.

At the time, ANI posted a tweet citing ACP Sumeet Sood which said, “Ludhiana, Punjab | A firing incident came to light outside Ludhiana court premises near Kochhar Market side. There was a stir after the incident. Three bullets were shot. The accused is absconding, investigation underway. One person is injured: Sumeet Sood, ACP.”

Another report has stated that two suspects were nabbed by the police. Their identities or further details about their arrest are unclear as of now.
