Ontario Hospital Nurses to Receive Significant Raises Following Arbitration Decision
Hospital nurses in Ontario may soon experience a significant increase in pay, as an arbitration ruling has found in favour of an average 11% rise over a two-year period.
Negotiations were held between the Ontario Nurses’ Association and the Ontario Hospital Association, but when an agreement could not be reached, an arbitrator was appointed to establish the conditions.
Arbitrator William Kaplan has highlighted convincing evidence of a nursing recruitment and retention issue in Ontario’s hospitals in his recent judgement.
