Private channel will broadcast Gurbani even after July 23: SGPC

Amritsar: Gurbani broadcast from Sri Harmandir Sahib can be shown on private channel even after 23rd July. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will soon be writing to the channel to broadcast Gurbani till further orders. SGPC is going to take this step on the orders of Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh.

Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh said- Sangat has been demanding for a long time that SGPC should start its own channel. Recently, SGPC has decided to start its own YouTube channel, which is a matter of great pleasure. But Sangat is demanding from Shri Akal Takht Sahib through phone and social media that all cannot do Darshan and Kirtan Sarvan through YouTube.

Internet is not available everywhere. There are many companions who neither have a smart phone nor a smart TV. Because of which most of the sangat will be deprived of darshan, kirtan, recitation of Gurbani etc. at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib.

Therefore, SGPC has been ordered to continue broadcasting Gurbani from Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib through YouTube channel as well as any other channel so that no one is deprived of performing Gurbani Kirtan and having darshan.

The bill passed in the assembly is yet to be signed by Governor Banwari Lal Purohit in the ongoing dispute between the SGPC and the Punjab government. After which the Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 Amendment Bill has not yet become an Act. After which now SGPC is preparing to give Gurbani broadcast to private channel again till further orders.

Mann has sought clarification from SGPC

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has sought clarification from SGPC. Mann tweeted – SGPC should give clarification regarding live telecast of Gurbani from 24th July. All channels should be allowed free and free to air broadcast..if govt gets chance to serve we will make all arrangements within 24 hours.
