Punjab Police ASI Kills Wife, Son, Dog and Kidnaps Teenage Girl While Fleeing

A Punjab police assistant sub-inspector (ASI) reportedly fatally shot his wife and son before kidnapping a teenage girl and fleeing. The incident is said to have taken place in Bhumbli village in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district. The police have allegedly located and rescued the teenage girl, but the ASI has not yet been arrested.

Identified as Bhupinder Singh, the ASI reportedly used his service revolver to fatally shoot his wife Baljit Kaur, a teacher, and their son Lovepreet Singh. He also reportedly shot his dog with the revolver. A teenage girl from the neighborhood heard the altercation and went to Bhupinder’s house but the accused then took her with him and escaped. The incident took place at around 10 a.m.

According to the latest reports, the girl has been located and rescued but Bhupinder has not surrendered yet. He allegedly took the girl to Shahpur Jajjan village, 35 km away from Bhumli, in his car and threatened to murder her.

A local resident also shared that the incident between Bhupinder and his family was a result of a domestic dispute. He added that the ASI has an older son living abroad.
