Punjab Vigilance Bureau Arrests Forest Guard for Accepting Rs. 15,000 Bribe

Punjab Vigilance Bureau has arrested another official for accepting a bribe. This time, it was a Forest Guard Munish Kumar from Sunam road, Sangrur posted at Malerkotla. The VB set a trap for the official following a complaint from the complainant of a resident of the village Burj, Malerkotla district named Nirbhey Singh.

A Vigilance Bureau spokesperson shared that the complainant, Nirbhey Singh, approached the VB and informed that Forest Guard Munish Kumar had demanded a bribe of Rs. 15,000 for not reporting the damage to the forest park adjoining the complainant’s plot. A VB team from the economic offenses wing Ludhiana range was set up and set up a trap for Kumar.

Kumar was then arrested while accepting the bribe and the tainted money was recovered from him in the presence of two official witnesses, according to the spokesperson. He added that a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Kumar at VB police station Ludhiana range and further investigation is underway.

This was another case of arrests made for corruption which shows that Punjab police under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is working towards demolishing corruption in the state. Recently, an Additional Superintendent Engineer (ASE) at PSPCL, Sukhwinder Singh Multani, was arrested by the Punjab Vigilance Bureau for taking a bribe of Rs. 15 lakh and demanding more money.
