Punjabi man shot dead, daughter injured in Edmonton

According to media reports, a Punjabi man from Kammowal, Hoshiarpur was shot dead at his residence in Edmonton, Alberta on New Year’s Day. The deceased’s 21-year-old daughter is also said to have been injured in the altercation.

The deceased, identified as Varinder Singh, was open fired at his residence in 16 Avenue, Street 38, Edmonton on January 1, Singh’s wife reportedly stated to media outlets. His daughter, who was also present, was also supposedly injured during the shooting.

Varinder Singh had gone to Canada with his two daughters and his wife for work in 2019, Village sarpanch Amandeep Singh reportedly stated. Prior to moving to Canada, the deceased used to work in a hotel in Delhi, the sarpanch added.

Varinder’s family have reportedly expressed for his body to be brought back to India for his last rites.
