‘Rogue’ drone shot down by BSF near Amritsar

The Border Security Force, on Wednesday, shot down a drone reportedly coming into Indian territory from Pakistan along the International Border in the Amritsar sector, a BSF spokesperson stated to media outlets.

The drone was reportedly shot down at the Babapir post in the Amritsar sector along the international border and fell in the Pakistani territory across the border on the intervening night of February 7 and February 8.

According to media reports, the drone was supposedly on its way back to Pakistani territory when it was shot down by Border Security Force personnel. Consequently, the drone fell across the border in the neighbouring territory.

“During the night intervening of February 7 and 8, BSF personnel deployed along the border in Amritsar sector detected a drone intruding into Indian territory from Pakistan in the AOR (area of responsibility) of Baba Peer BOP. The personnel fired on the rogue drone and deployed all counter-drone measures,” a spokesperson for the force stated to media outlets.

Since the start of this year alone, the BSF has shot down three drones along the International border in Punjab.
