Severe Thunderstorm and Hail Alert for Southern Ontario on Monday
Environment Canada Issues Warning, Advises Caution
In an alert issued by Environment Canada, parts of southern Ontario are being cautioned about the potential occurrence of a thunderstorm accompanied by large hail on Monday. Initially, a severe thunderstorm warning was declared for the regions of Orangeville, Halton, Caledon, Peel, and Guelph, Ontario, just before 9 a.m. However, the warning was later rescinded, although the possibility of a storm persisted as per the agency’s forecasts.
According to meteorologists at Environment Canada, a severe thunderstorm is being monitored, which has the capacity to generate strong wind gusts, hail ranging from pea to dime size, and heavy rainfall. The agency has specifically highlighted the potential hazards caused by strong wind gusts, such as the displacement of loose objects, damage to weak structures, tree branches breaking, and the overturning of large vehicles.
