Three Brampton residents are facing charges after an unusual theft of butter worth $1,000 in Guelph potentially derailed their holiday baking plans.
While butter prices are on the rise, reaching as high as $12 per pound in some stores, the consequences for these culprits are likely to be even more costly.
According to a press release from Guelph Police on December 28, the three Brampton men may see their “holiday baking plans interrupted.”
The incident unfolded just before 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve when law enforcement responded to a call at a grocery store in the south end of Guelph.
Police reported two men placing a case of butter into a cart and exiting the store, heading towards a waiting vehicle.
Upon intervention, officers discovered the suspect vehicle outside another nearby grocery store, with two men inside and a third exiting the store to approach the officers.
