Team Parvasi – Inside

A two-month-old baby was located in a hotel in Markham on Tuesday afternoon with serious injuries. York Regional Police is carrying out an investigation in the case but had arrested one man from the scene, owing to enough evidence to show he was involved.

York Regional Police officers responded to a call about an injured baby from 8900 Woodbine Avenue, north of Highway 7, shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, January 31. Officers at the scene found a two-month-old baby with serious injuries who was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. A man was arrested at the scene and according to Const. Laura Nicolle, “There was enough evidence to arrest someone at the scene connected to these injuries.”

An investigation is underway and very few details about the case have been shared. Nicolle added, “What I can tell you is that my understanding is that they were in the same hotel room. So there’s some relation between the infant and the individual in custody.” She also stated that there were other people in the hotel room as well at the time, and one of them had made the 911 call.

The Special Victims Unit is leading the investigation with the help of other departments. The homicide department will also be looking into the case as it helps with any cases that involve a child under five years old.
