VIGILANCE BUREAU NABS ASI FOR TAKING BRIBE RS 5,000
Chandigarh:The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) during its ongoing campaign against corruption in the state, on Friday nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector -Local Rank (ASI/LR) Rajinder Singh, posted in police station, Hariyana, Hoshiarpur district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000. Disclosing this here today, a spokesperson of the VB said the above said police official has been arrested on the complaint of Sanjay alias Ashu, resident of village Bassi Nau, in Hoshiarpur.
Giving details he added that the complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the above said police official has demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe to submit chargesheet in a police case registered against the complainant at the police station, Hariyana.
The spokesperson informed that a VB team from Jalandhar range has laid a trap and the accused police official has been arrested on the spot while taking Rs 5,000 as a bribe from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused ASI at VB police station Jalandhar range. Further investigation in this case was under progress.
