“Yeh Pradarshini Mat Lagao Bhai”, Mother Of Rajouri Martyr Cries As Politicians Pose Presenting Cheque

Two politicians from Uttar Pradesh are facing severe criticism on social media, accused of prioritizing a photo opportunity over consoling the grieving mother of an Army captain who lost his life in the line of duty. The mother, visibly distraught, can be seen urging them to refrain from the “public display” as they attempt to hand over two cheques to her.

Both politicians, affiliated with the BJP, including a minister, are under fire for their perceived “insensitive and heartless” actions. The Congress and the AAP, along with numerous social media users, have condemned their behavior.

Captain Shubham Gupta was one of five Army soldiers killed in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri between Wednesday and Thursday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to Captain Gupta on Thursday and announced compensation of ₹50 lakh, along with a government job for a family member.

In a video circulated by leaders from opposition parties on Friday, Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Yogendra Upadhyay and BJP MLA GS Dharmesh can be seen attempting to capture a photo with Captain Gupta’s mother at their Agra residence while presenting cheques to her.

Despite the grieving mother withdrawing her hands and expressing, “yeh pradarshini mat lagao bhai” (don’t make this a public display), the politicians appear unmoved. “Get my son back, I don’t want all this,” pleads the mother, but the politicians redirect their attention to the cameras.

The video, shared on various social media platforms, prompted the Congress party to comment with a single word: “Vultures.” Aam Aadmi Party leader Raghav Chaddha also shared the video, asserting that the ‘B’ in BJP should stand for “besharam” (shameless) and ‘P’ for Publicity. He alleged that, while the grieving mother awaited her son’s body, the minister seemed more interested in orchestrating a photo opportunity for public relations (PR) purposes.
